Slough Farm Residencies

Slough Farm’s Artists-in-Residence Program fosters creativity, giving our artists the opportunity to connect with the land, farm and local community of Martha’s Vienyard. Slough Farm supports the creative process for visual and performance artists, writers, musicians, and chefs. We give our visiting residents the time and space to focus and develope their craft and works in progress.

Community engagement

Slough Farm artists in residence are encouraged to engage with the vibrant and creative community of Martha’s Vineyard. We provide our artists in residence opportunities for creative collaborations, by building connections between artists and local residents through workshops, public events, and community-driven projects.  Each residenct must create, lead or be part of  a community engagement project or workshop as part of their stay at Slough Farm.

Accommodation

Residents are given a private bedroom and bathroom in our four bedroom modern farmhouse. The farmhouse is used as a gathering space for our regular programming, the kitchen and living spaces are shared with other residents and Slough Farm program attendees. Laundry room is available, for use by residents and Slough Farm staff.

Studio space

Slough Farm is equipped with multiple work and studio spaces.  Whether its a quiet, comfortable nook in our mezzanine loft to focus your thoughts, or a classroom filled with plenty of natural lighting to create large scale projects. In addition, we have a woodworking shop and ceramics studio located on the property.  Our expansive chef’s kitchen is equipped with everything you need to create delicious farm fresh meals.

Farm Food and meals

During resident’s stay at Slough Farm they have access to meat and vegetables raised and grown on the farm, upon request.   Depending on the season we will have everything from squash and tomatoes in the summer, to cauliflower, fennel and kale in the colder months.  Our pasture raised beef, pork, lamb, chicken  and eggs are available year round.

Compensation

Slough Farm artists in residence are compensated $1000 per week of stay. In addition we cover all travel expenses to and from the farm at beginning and end of residency. We are committed to supporting artists and chefs during their residency by providing financial assistance for project-related art and culinary expenses incurred during the length of the residency. We will reimburse 50% of the costs associated with these supplies, up to a maximum of $600 per resident.
